AI Account Guide
AI subscriptions are the newest — and weirdest — corner of the account market, because what you're buying is rarely an "account" in the normal sense. It's access to a billing relationship: someone else's ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro, or Midjourney subscription, resold at a discount. The entire category only works if you understand exactly which of the three models you're buying.
The three models
- Shared logins. Cheapest. You get credentials to an account that ten or fifty other buyers also use. Expect to be kicked out of sessions, hit "too many simultaneous" errors, and lose access whenever the provider cracks down on sharing. Fine for casual use; unusable for work.
- Dedicated logins. One buyer per account. Costs more, behaves like your own subscription. This is what most "cheap Plus account" listings actually are — a real subscription, resold.
- Invite / team seat. The cleanest model: the seller adds your email to their team or workspace. You log in as yourself, keep your chat history, and the seller just pays the bill. If this option exists for the service you want, take it.
Know which one the listing is before you compare prices — a $5 shared login and a $15 dedicated login are not competing offers.
What to check before you buy
- Subscription status and renewal date. Log in and check the billing page. "Plus account" with the subscription cancelling in 3 days is a 3-day account.
- Whose payment method. If the subscription renews on the seller's card, your access lasts as long as they keep paying — ask what happens at renewal. If it's a lifetime deal or prepaid year, get the expiry in writing.
- Usage limits. Plus/Pro tiers have rate limits on the best models (a set number of o1/o3 or Opus messages per window). Shared logins burn through these fast. Ask about the practical limit, not the marketing one.
- Region restrictions. Some AI services aren't officially available in certain countries; accounts created with workarounds can lose access if the provider enforces region checks.
- API credits vs. subscriptions. Different product entirely. API credit accounts are pay-per-token balances that drain with use — check the actual dollar balance in the billing dashboard, and understand it depletes.
Warranty expectations
This category has the shortest honest warranties in the market — often 24 hours, sometimes less for shared logins — because the seller can't control the provider's anti-sharing enforcement. What the warranty should cover: the login works on arrival and the subscription tier is as described. It cannot cover OpenAI or Anthropic banning shared accounts next month. Price that risk in: if a dedicated Plus account costs a third of retail, the discount is the risk premium.
Common scams and risks
- Edu / trial stacking. Accounts created with student discounts or free trials, sold as full subscriptions. They expire without warning. Check the actual plan name in billing settings.
- Stolen payment methods. Subscriptions paid with stolen cards get cancelled — and the account banned — when the chargeback hits. Suspiciously cheap "lifetime" offers are the tell.
- Session kicking on shared logins. Not a scam, just the model — but sellers who don't disclose the sharing ratio are selling you a lottery ticket. Ask how many users share one account.
Rule of thumb: for anything work-critical, buy dedicated or team-seat, from a seller who states the renewal date and the sharing ratio up front. The cheapest listing in this category is cheap for a reason you will discover at the worst possible moment. And keep your own backup plan — even a legitimate dedicated account can go down for provider-side reasons, so never let a resold subscription be the single point of failure for a deadline.
